Deyonna Marvette Whitfeld, 53, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on September 28, 2025. Born on January 20, 1972 in Atlanta’s historic Techwood community, she was the beloved daughter of Ada McCluster.
Deyonna was known for her vibrant spirit, love for family, and many talents. Growing up, she played the violin, was part of a double Dutch jump rope team, and shined in sports — playing basketball and serving as captain of the varsity cheerleading team at Grady High School. Her laughter, loyalty, and creativity left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
Loved Ones
She is survived by her children Sierra Joseph, Diallo “Mookie” McKinney, and Anya McKinney; son-in-law Jeffery Joseph Jr.; and her cherished grandchildren Jeffery Joseph III, Johanna Joseph, and Jue Joseph.
She is also survived by her devoted mother Ada McCluster; her beloved brother Tracy Thompson; her niece Netra Thompson; and loving cousin Keke Edmondson. Lastly she is survived by her loving God Family the Olaitan’s.
Deyonna’s life was enriched by the deep friendships she shared with Ada Sterdivant, Tanya Dunn, Shalanda Henry, Shelita Denson, Brunetta Cherry, and Taquela Pettigrew.
