It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Deshawn Ellis on June 12, 2023, at the young age of 14.

Deshawn was born on May 15, 2009, in Richmond, Virginia, to proud parents David and Maya Ellis. He was the third of four siblings and was known for his infectious smile, kind heart, and love of basketball.

Deshawn attended Richmond Elementary School, where he was a star athlete on the basketball team. He was admired by his teammates, coaches, and classmates for his strong work ethic, leadership skills, and sportsmanship.

Outside of basketball, Deshawn was also an accomplished student. He was always eager to learn and was an avid reader. He was often described by his teachers as an exceptional student who went above and beyond in his studies.

In his free time, Deshawn enjoyed playing video games, spending time with his family, and volunteering at a local food bank. He had a heart of gold and always went out of his way to help others in need.

Tragically, Deshawn's life was cut short when he passed away unexpectedly on June 12, 2023. His passing has left a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.

Deshawn will be remembered as a bright, talented, and compassionate young man who made a positive impact on the world in his short time here. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the memories he left behind.

Deshawn is survived by his parents, David and Maya Ellis; his siblings, Aaliyah, Jaden, and Caleb; his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
