LAGRANGE — Derwin L. "Bob" Lauseng, 82, of Shipshewana, Indiana, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at Miller's Merry Manor in LaGrange. Mr. Lauseng was born on July 7, 1933, in Milbank, South Dakota, to Melvin and Ruth (Menske) Lauseng. Living many years in the Sturgis, Michigan, and Shipshewana, Indiana, areas, he was an engineer for Lear Sigler in Mendon, Michigan. He dearly loved his grandchildren and spending time with them. Bob was a man who loved building things, repairing old tractors, going to auctions and sales and he could fix or make anything. Mr. Lauseng was United States Air Force veteran. On January 29, 2007, in Delray Beach, Florida, he married Judy (Gibbons) Westrater; Mrs. Lauseng survives in Shipshewana. Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Judy Lauseng of Sturgis, Michigan, Scott Lauseng of Three Rivers, Michigan, and Tina Lauseng of Sturgis, Michigan; six grandchildren, Nina (Mike) White, Mystique (Todd) Conde, Dustin Pressler, Rebekah Williams, Blake Lauseng and Codie Lauseng; six great-grandchildren, Raven Lauseng, Taylor Schuler, Lindsey Lauseng, Dayton Waterman, Wyatt Lauseng Ritter, and Rowan White; two stepdaughters, Susie and Chad Marner of Goshen and Victoria Reed of Elkhart; a stepson, Travis Westrater of Elkhart; five step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; four sisters, Marilyn Reyelts of Milbank, South Dakota, Diane Gabriel of Milbank, South Dakota, Ruth Pies of Lead, South Dakato, and Kathleen Lauseng of Watertown, South Dakota; three brothers, Donald Lauseng of Barryton, Michigan, Edmund Lauseng of Watertown, South Dakota and David Lauseng of Aberdeen, South Dakota. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Ruth Lauseng; his first wife, Dorothy (Lawrence) Lauseng; two daughters, Amber Bender and Cheryl Lauseng; a son, John Lauseng; and a sister, Harriet Minder. According to his wishes, cremation will take place. Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange is assisting the family with arrangements.
