With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Derek James Bowens born in Scotland to Angela Currier Hinkle and Jimmy Bowens. Derek grew up in Grand Junction, CO, and resided in Bailey, CO, for the past few years.

He is predeceased by his father Jimmy Bowens. Derek is survived by his daughter, Navy Mae Harlow Bowens, fiancé Johnna Myers, mother Angela Hinkle (Robert Gillam), sisters Danielle Sandoval (Jonathan, Tatum Hinkle (Joey Beaudry), and many family and friends.

Derek was a loving partner and father, dedicated to his family and put their needs above his own. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Derek's passion for the outdoors was evident in his fishing, hiking, and camping hobbies. He found solace in nature and enjoyed sharing his love for the great outdoors with his loved ones. Derek also enjoyed going to sporting events and was a Colorado Avalanche and Denver Broncos fan.

Derek also served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy. He will be remembered for his kindness, big heart, and beautiful smile. He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of life will be held at the Evergreen Memorial Park in Evergreen, Colorado on January 2, 2025 at 2pm.
