Saffert, Dennis J.Dennis J. Saffert, 86, Green Bay, died Sunday, March 19, 2017. He was born on November 18, 1930, in Milwaukee, WI to Joseph and Anna (Gogg) Saffert. Dennis served his country during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army. On Oct. 10, 1953, he married his sweetheart, Carol Peters, the girl next door.Dennis was employed as a salesperson with Brach Candy of Chicago, IL for 30 years and enjoyed being the "Candy Man". He was an active member of the G.M.R. serving in various positions. Dennis' favorite hobby was fishing, especially for muskies and crappies and this continued at his place on Upper Gresham Lake in Boulder Junction, WI. He also enjoyed golf and card games.Dennis is survived by his wife of 63 years, Caroline; son, James; three granddaughters, Sarah, Amber (Ben), and Kimberly; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Jane Prevetti; a sister-in-law, Marlene Volmer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Julie Peters; his parents, and brothers-in-law, Chris Prevetti, Roger and Clarence Peters, and Don Volmer.Friends may call at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St., from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with Rev. Patrick C. Beno officiating. Entombment will be in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
