CELEBRATION OF LIFE AND LOVE

Demitrius Weaver of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on July 28, 2025, at the age of 59. Born on May 23, 1966, to the union of the late Albert Spencer Weaver and the late Sylvia Bridgewater. He is survived by 3 brothers-Albert (Sherry) and Ignatius (Belinda) Weaver, and Harry (Meghan) Bridgewater; 1 sister-Dquawaii (Percy) Green; a devoted stepfather-Harry Holland; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents-Albert Spencer Weaver and Sylvia Bridgewater 2 brothers-Rene Weaver and Gerald Bridgewater; 1 nephew-Terrell Weaver; and his grandparents, Landry and Melvina Bridgewater and Mattew and Albertine Weaver. Demitrius lived a life filled with passion and compassion. He was known for his kind heart and generous spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Demitrius was a beloved member of the PRINCE OF WALES SOCIAL AID AND PLEASURE CLUB, known for his infectious smile and positive attitude. He was a 12th ward native, born and raised. Deedy has never endured kids but loved his nieces and nephews, as one of his nieces gave him the nickname UNCLE SMALLMAN! to know Deedy was to love him, he had his way of doing things when it came down to what he wanted. Deedy was stubborn when he knew what he wanted and no one could change his mind, like if you needed something he would be happy to help, but make sure if you needed cash to ask for more than the amount you need, because asking for 10 dollars, you are sure to get 8/9, even if he have 100s, he would flip all the 10s and 20s until he get to the smaller bills..At 4'11 he was Cohen High School basketball star in the 80s, his name appeared on the wall in the gym until the school was revamped a few years ago. I remember back in the days he had a BMW that was one of his prized possessions, riding around with the windows up and the air not working, but that didn't stop him he still rode up and down Annunciation St with the sunroof open. After Katrina we lived in Houston where he became a favorite to everyone. Finally he said New Orleans is his home and that's where he wanted to be so he came back home where he lived the rest of his life bragging about he can't wait ti October for the POW second line. Paradise where he became a favorite, he would be there rain, sleet or snow. the spot isn't the same without him and that walker in the parking lot and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. May his soul rest in peace.
