Della M. DayOctober 28, 1925 - May 20, 2016Della M. Day passed from this life on Friday, May 20, 2016. She was born on October 28, 1925 in Nampa, Idaho at the old Mercy Hospital, the daughter of P.C. Curtis and Rebecca Bown Curtis. Della attended school in Kuna, Idaho through graduation with the class of 1943.On December 2, 1945 she married George E. Day. George passed away on November 2, 2006. They were married for 61 years. Together they raised three children who survive them: Jennette Day Descalzo, Glen (Ann) Day, and Don (Cheryl) Day. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Mark (Kristina) Descalzo, Stephen (Laura) Descalzo, Marcy (Paul) Rice, Laurie Day, Jared (Katrina) Day, and Brigitte Day; and nine great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Matthew, and Sarah Descalzo; Silas, Rebekah, and Micah Descalzo; Andrew and Emily Rice; and Cambrielle Day. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive her as well as her sister-in-law, Dorothy Day. Della was preceded in death by great-granddaughter Kylee Day; son-in-law John Descalzo; half-brothers Floyd Curtis, George Curtis, and Jack Curtis; half-sister Mary McKeever; and sisters Ethel LaMay Franssen and Bessie Patrick Freeman.Della and George spent many years as Jersey dairy farmers in the Boise Valley. Retirement years were spent at the Cathedral Pines church camp in the Wood River Valley and traveling to see new places, family, and friends. They built their retirement home where they enjoyed entertaining family and friends. On Tuesday, May 31 at 2:00 p.m. the family will greet friends at the big house on Happy Valley Road to celebrate Della's life. A private family graveside service will be held earlier.
