He married Carletta in 54 and they lived together in Greenfield, Indiana. Together they raised 4 children Autumn(Bill), Asha (Chris), Adria, Alia. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren.

John graduated from Warsaw Community Highschool in 1966 and received a degree from the Indiana University in 1971.

John worked at his own wood shop and was passionate about affecting the most positive change in people.
