David West, 73, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in West Virginia, David later made Pittsburgh his home, where he built a life filled with dedication, hard work, and unwavering love for those around him.
David was a true jack of all trades—the kind of man who could fix anything with his hands and everything with his heart. As the family handyman, he was always the first to show up when someone needed help, often with a smile, a story, and the tools to get the job done.
He worked full-time for Port Authority, where he dedicated many years of service before proudly retiring at age 65. Outside of work, David found joy in the simple moments: relaxing in his chair, watching football, grilling for the family, listening to smooth R&B, and remembering the days when he had a passion for rapping in his youth.
Above all, David was happiest near the water. Fishing was not just a hobby—it was his peace. Whether the weather was warm, cold, or somewhere in between, David could be found with a line cast, enjoying the quiet and the thrill of the catch. It was where he felt free.
David built a beautiful life with Charron Warren, with whom he shared love, partnership, and family. He is survived by his children—David West Jr., Kearrah Barlow, and Yasmine Barlow—who will forever carry his strength and spirit with them.
He is also survived by his beloved siblings, his brother Carl Bowie and his sister Annie Boyd, who shared countless memories and a lifelong bond with him.
David will be remembered for his humor, his wisdom, his calm presence, and his willingness to help anyone who crossed his path. His love for family was the foundation of his life, and his legacy will continue through the stories, laughter, and lessons he leaves behind.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
