ANGOLA — David A. Dirr, 63, of Angola, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana. David was born on April 3, 1952 in Toledo, Ohio, to Melvin Erman and Shirley Jean (Richards) Dirr. They preceded him in death. He graduated from Sylvania High School in 1970. He married Cathy J. Blount on September 1, 1973, in Ray, Indiana. He had been the owner of Dave's Construction, Angola, Indiana, since 1973. He enjoyed doing building projects and working, animals, John Wayne films, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Cathy J. Dirr of Angola, Indiana; his children, Shane (Angie) Dirr of Hudson, Indiana, and Nicole (RJ) Crabtree of Fremont, Indiana; six grandchildren, Aspen, Christopher and Brooke Dirr, and Austin, Evan and Robert Phibbs; a great-grandson, Alec Phibbs; and his brothers and sisters, Richard (Jeanette) Dirr of Fremont, Indiana, Larry (Sharon) Dirr of Montpelier, Ohio, Brenda (Larry) Nowak of Swanton, Ohio, Trudy (Charles) McElroy of Carthage, Texas, and Karen Stevens of Alma, Michigan. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Leslie Ann Dirr; a sister, Sonja Browning; and a brother, Alan Dirr. Calling hours will be from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2015, at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2015, with Pastor Mike Hamm officiating.
