David C. Matthews, 66MUNCIE - David C. Matthews, 66, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Westminster Village.He was born on August 9, 1950 in Jamestown, TN, the son of Charles and Bertha (Scott) Matthews.David graduated from Cowan High School. He also attended Ball State University where he received his Bachelor's degree in history. After High School he joined the United States Navy where he served his country during the Vietnam War and retired from the Navy in 1989. David retired from Amtrak where he worked as conductor after ten years of service.  He married Nena Matthews on December 28, 1970 in California. He married his second wife, Kathryn Pinnow Matthews in 2001 in Muncie.David was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved animals, gardening, inappropriate meme's, politics, birds, and most importantly his family. David was proud American, he was the Clark Griswold of the Matthew's family, and thought everything could be fixed with duct tape.  Survivors include his beloved wife, Kathryn Matthews; first wife, Nena Matthews; three children, Maggie (wife, Jessica) Matthews, Mary (husband, Ray) Lowery, and David (wife, Tresa) Matthews Jr.; grandchildren, Ezra Matthews, Elias Matthews, Shelby Lowery, Sierra Lowery, Maddalyn Lowery, Alexzander Lowery, Dyllan Matthews, and Lillian Matthews; sister, Shirley Mathews; brother, Dale (wife, Cindy) Matthews; three step-children, Amy Ronnkvist, Michael Nutz, and Carrie Nutz; and several friends and extended family.He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Melissa Wilt, brother-in-law, Fred Mathews, and sister, Linda Jordan (husband, David Jordan).A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the mortuary.Memorial contributions may be made to , 8604 Allisonville Rd., Suite 140 Indianapolis, IN 46250 or , 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.meeksmortuary.com.
