Darlene W. MooreheadGrimesDarlene W. Moorehead, age 94, died September 21, 2017, in her home at Kennybrook Village, Grimes, Iowa, lovingly surrounded by her children. She was born on December 25, 1922, the daughter of Clarence and Wynona Brodmarkle. Darlene was a life-long resident of the Des Moines area, graduating from North High School in 1941. She married fellow North High graduate Robert M. Moorehead at Randolph Army Airfield in 1942. Robert preceded her in death. Darlene loved to dance, laugh, entertain, and travel with friends, and she had a flair for decorating and fashion. Besides volunteer work at Iowa Lutheran Hospital and Lutheran Social Services, Darlene was an avid reader who enjoyed golf, bowling, sewing and knitting. Her artistry was especially evident in the many beautiful quilts she designed and made. She was a devoted mother to her three surviving children: James Moorehead (wife Sally), Marcia Rosen-Kain (husband Wain), and Robert Moorehead, as well as five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Darlene's intense passion and love for life and family served her well, and her memory will be cherished by all of her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Kennybrook Village, 200 SW Brookside Dr, Grimes, IA 50111, on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at 2:15pm. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Windsor Heights Lutheran Church (1240 66th St. Des Moines, IA 50324) or the Des Moines Unity Point Hospice (11333 Aurora Ave, Urbandale, IA 50322.)
