Darlene HatchittPleasant HillDarlene Elizabeth Hatchitt, 91, of Pleasant Hill, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at The Shores at Pleasant Hill. Services: 10:30 a.m., Monday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, by Rev. Ross Parker. Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Merle Hay Funeral Home. There will be a private family entombment following the service.Darlene is survived by her three sons Mike (Janie) of Marshalltown, Terry (Diana) of Stillwater, MN, and Jerry (Anita) of Pleasant Hill; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her husband Jack, son Jack Jr., three brothers Elmer, Delbert, and Bill, and two sisters Jeanette and Betty.Darlene was born on October 14, 1925 in Dedham, the daughter of Anton and Martha Mauer Goetzinger. In 1948, she married Dr. Jack Willis Hatchitt in Des Moines at the St. Ambrose Cathedral. Darlene worked as the office manager for Jack's doctor's office.Darlene was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed gardening and play cards with her Bridge Club. She was past president of the local, state, and national Osteopathic Auxiliary and president of the Wives' Club at Des Moines University. She was a very active and devoted member of her church, where she took part of the finance board, funeral dinner committee, and reciting the rosary. Overall, her family was most important to her.
