Today, we bid farewell to a remarkable soul, Daphine Appleby, who passed away on April 17, 2025, in Skowhegan, Maine. Born on May 31, 1977, Daphine lived a life full of love, laughter, and endless adventure.

Daphine was born to Maxine and Gene Cross. In 2017, she married the love of her life, Michael Appleby, and together they devoted themselves to each other. Daphine was a proud and loving mother of three beautiful daughters: Ashley Hayden, Allison Sawyer (spouse Ethan Sawyer), and Abagail Hayden (spouse Hayden Archer). Daphine was also a proud and loving grandmother to Zoie, Nicholas, Amelia, Esme, Walker, Wilder, each of whom brought endless joy to her heart. She also survived by her loving sisters, Christina Cross (spouse Brandon Whittemore) and Cheryl Cross and her brother Kurt Cross. She will be deeply missed by many cherished friends whose lives were brightened by her kindness, joyful spirit, and generous heart. 

Throughout her life, Daphine was known for her infectious smile, kind heart, and unwavering strength. She faced every challenge with grace and courage, inspiring all those around her. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and her presence brought warmth and joy to every gathering.

Tragically, Daphine's life was cut short by Stage 4 cervical cancer. Despite the devastating diagnosis, she fought bravely until the very end, refusing to let the disease define her spirit. Daphine's resilience and determination will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her.

As we say goodbye to Daphine Appleby, we celebrate a life well-lived and a heart that touched countless others. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
