Daniel B. "Danny" McKerring passed away Aug. 25, 2105, in Winston-Salem, N.C.He was born on Nov. 3, 1953 in Flint to Bernard H. and Marion "Mickey" McKerring. Danny moved with his family to Greenbush in 1962, where he attended Oscoda Area Schools, graduating in 1971. After high school, Danny traveled extensively working in the restaurant and hospitality industry. He loved people and derived enjoyment from entertaining. Cooking and catering were his passion. His favorite thing to do was to combine this love with that of sailing and being on the ocean, working as a chef on private chartered excursions. Back on land he managed several restaurants, taverns and hotels over the years, stretching from the Florida Keys to California and eventually settling in the Carolinas.He leaves behind siblings John H. (Sharon) McKerring of San Diego, Calif., Mary (Jim) Reitler of Oscoda, Nancy E. McKerring of Winston-Salem, N.C., and David M. (Kay) McKerring of Hollywood, Fla. He was preceded in death by parents Bernard and Marion, brother Bernard (Tim) McKerring, and sister Judith A. Dean. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.A private interment will take place on Sept. 21, at St Paul's Cemetery in Owosso.
