Dan Shirk, age 67 of Mount Gilead died Friday, November 4, 2016 at Woodside Village. He was born on August 12, 1949 to Elmer and Lottie (Jones) Shirk who preceded him in death.

Dan was a 1968 graduate of Cardington Lincoln High School. After high school he went to work for HPM in Mount Gilead where he worked for 28years.

Dan was a sports fan, but baseball was his favorite, he was a huge Cincinnati Reds fan. He loved spending time teaching the game to the younger generations. Dan was also enjoyed reading a good book and anything history related. His dogs Buck and Cheyanne meant the world to him.

Dan is survived by three brothers; David Maleh Shirk of Cardington, Paul Fredrick Shirk of Shelby, and Robert William Shirk of Cardington; lifelong best friend Randy Burns of Cardington.

Friends may call on Tuesday November 8, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The family asks that friends come with their favorite Dan story in mind to share with others.
