Dale E. Slenker, Sr.10/22/1937 - June 26, 2016York TownshipDale E. Slenker, Sr., 78, passed away peacefully at the York Hospital on Sunday, June 26. He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Barbara L. (Stegner) Slenker. Mr. Slenker was born on October 22, 1937 in York and was the son of the late Elwood and Edith (Gladfelter) Slenker. Dale worked for Osram Sylvania as a tool and die designer for 45 years. He was a long time member of Christ Lutheran Church of Spry. At the age of 19 he joined Goodwill Fire Station #19 and actively served for 55 years, including roles as Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, President of the Board of Trustees, and Captain of the Fire Police. In his later years he was a crossing guard for York Township Elementary School. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Donna Ludwig and her husband, Craig of Red Lion, Judy Slenker of Spry and Dale Slenker, Jr., and his wife, Margie of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Michelle Sanborn and her husband, Brooks, Danielle Woo and her husband, Tyler, Anissa Keesey and her husband, Ben, Rebakah Smith, Patrick Jesek, Brandon Jesek and Justin Slenker; great grandchildren, Cambria Sanborn, Kai Sanborn, Grayden Keesey, and Adelyn Keesey. He is also survived by his niece, Anjanette Slenker. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Slenker; and sister, Delores Slenker.A funeral service to honor Dale's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 1 at Christ Lutheran Church of Spry, 2385 S. Queen St., York, with the Reverend James Polanzke officiating. A viewing will take place on Thursday, June, 30 from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St., Dallastown, and then again at the church on Friday from Noon until the time of service.
