Constance (Connie) BehrConstance (Connie) Behr died at her home in Fort Collins on August 9, 2017. Connie was born on October 16, 1942 in Denver, CO to her parents Phillis and Raymond Behr. She was raised in Evergreen, CO, where she enjoyed an active and accomplished childhood, including membership in Job's Daughters as honored queen, Good Citizenship recognition by the Daughters of the American Revolution, election as Homecoming Queen as a senior at Evergreen High School, and being voted "girl with most kissable lips" (and "the all-around girl") by her high school classmates.Soon after graduating high school in 1960, Connie spent two months touring Europe. Upon her return, she began attending Colorado State University to study education, and remained as active as ever, pledging to the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, being elected Queen of the Military Ball, and graduating in 1964. After graduating, she joined the Peace Corps and spent three years in Tanzania and Micronesia.Connie came home to earn her Master's degree from CSU and pursue a teaching career. Settling in Byers, CO, Connie then spent a number of years teaching in the Byers school system. Returning to Fort Collins in the early 1990s, Connie continued to work in the education field, working at Liberty Common School in Fort Collins until May of 2017.Connie was well-loved by family and friends, students and co-workers. She was motivated all her life by compassion for others and a desire to be close to those who could benefit from her abilities—a motivation that drove her involvement in the Peace Corps and teaching, and made her treasured in the hearts of those who knew her.
