Van Wormer, Connie (Wilson) 81, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Thursday, March 9, 2017. Connie was born on September 8, 1935 in Iron Mountain, Michigan. She spent her childhood in the Upper and Lower Peninsula. She graduated from Bronson High School in 1952. On February 20, 1954, she married Louie J. "Bud" Van Wormer in Coldwater, Michigan. They started a family, and moved to Tempe, AZ in 1965. Along with raising a large family, Connie worked as a teller for First Interstate Bank until 1988. Connie enjoyed reading, handcrafts, dancing, sewing, spending summers in the cool pines of Overgaard, AZ, card and board games, and spending time with family and friends. She had a heart for helping those in challenging circumstances, and a passion for the Pro-Life movement, for which she volunteered her time and energy. Connie is preceded in death by her parents, several siblings and her husband of 56 years. She is survived by her six daughters and their husbands: Candace Bondurant (James), Carma Flanigan (Tim), Cynthia Jarrad (Andy), Colleen Boroughs (Morgan), Cheryl Sprinzl (Marty) and Christie Mains (Phillip), nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Always willing to lend a helping hand or speak an encouraging word, she will be greatly missed. Baseline Rd., Mesa, AZ on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, March 17, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church, 3201 S. Evergreen Rd, Tempe, AZ 85282. Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.
