Reverend Clyde O. Speas of Denver, Colorado went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Lutheran Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Memorials may be sent to the Colorado Homeless Families, PO Box 740130, Arvada, CO 80006.Clyde was born on the farm near Clemons, Iowa on April 13, 1931 to Burleigh A. Speas and Edna FayBelle Zerbe. Clyde was the youngest of five children born into this marriage. He attended grade school at Laurel School. His parents bought a grocery store and an acreage near Ferguson, Iowa where he attended the Ferguson High School and met the love of his life, Glenna Lucille Finders. They both graduated from Ferguson High School and enrolled at Northwestern Bible School, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Northwestern College, Minneapolis, Minnesota. He then attended and graduated in 1958 from the Conservative Baptist Theological Seminary in Denver, Colorado. Clyde and Glenna were married in Marshalltown, Iowa on August 24, 1951. They had two children, David Ray and Dianne Ruth. Clyde and Glenna, along with their children, lived in Jerusalem, Israel while Clyde attended The Institute of Holy Land Studies. Clyde pastored in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Barron, Wisconsin, Boulder City, Nevada, Yuma and Phoenix, Arizona and several churches in the Denver, Colorado area. He was also the Founding Director for the Fellowship of Minnesota Conservative Baptists in Minneapolis, Minnesota and sat on many boards for Christian associations. He also led several tours to the Holy Land. Clyde served the Lord throughout his adult life and had a tremendous impact on many lives.Clyde is survived by his wife of 62 years, Glenna L. Speas (Finders); son, David (Becky) Speas of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; daughter, Dianne (Dean) Leffler of Prior Lake, Minnesota; sister, Wanda Speas Schrader of Marshalltown, Iowa; sister-in-law, Virginia (Robert) Cowley of Ames, Iowa; grandchildren, James (Kristin) Leffler of Shakopee, Minnesota, Tina (Kevin) Martin; great grandchildren, Dylan, Mackenzie and Makayla Martin of Bartlett, Tennessee; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burleigh and Edna Speas; brothers, Cordis Speas, Paul Speas, and Ray Speas.
