Claude Lyle "Buster" DeatonOzonaLongtime Val Verde Co. rancher of Pandale and Ozona passed away on March 8, 2017, at the age of 87, in Ozona. He was born on the Illinois Pipeline Substation #5 north of Comstock on May 2, 1929, to pioneer ranch families Claude Oliver and Lois Malone Deaton. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lou Varga Deaton, his sister Maureen Deaton Billings and his only grandson Logan Cole Deaton. Buster is survived by his three children, Jesse Mark Deaton of Marshall, Craig Walton Deaton of Ozona and Denise Ueckert (Judd) of San Antonio and several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.Pallbearers are Louis Bunger, Pleas Childress, Billy Carson, Fred Chandler, Rory Buchanan and Mike Womack. Honorary Pallbearers are Larry Arledge, Bill Black, George Bunger, Tom Collins, Henry Mills, Jr., Jack Skiles, Deene Holden and Jess Malone.The family would like to thank the staff of the Crockett Co. Care Center and Dr. Marcus Sims and Dr. Ike Whitten for their special care.Graveside service will be held Saturday March 11, 2017, at 2 p.m. in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Ozona.
