This obituary is administered by:

Clarenda Smith, also known as "Clarice," passed away on January 9, 2026 in Conover, North Carolina, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and unforgettable moments. Born on August 2,1982 to Carrie Ivey, Clarenda was a force to be reckoned with from the start.

She is survived by her four children, Alicia Igartua, Asakia Wilson, Aniya Smith, and Kae’Shawn Smith, who she loved more than life itself. Clarenda was a proud graduate of Asheville High School class of 2001 where she excelled in the fine arts of talking shit and listening to music.

Clarenda had a personality that could light up a room and a sense of humor that could make even the grumpiest of old men crack a smile. Her quick wit and infectious laughter will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Although she may be gone, Clarenda's spirit lives on in the memories and stories she leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, please blast your favorite music at full volume in her honor. Rest in peace, Clarenda, you will forever be the reigning champ of sassiness in our hearts. The family will hold a private service at Hart funeral home in Asheville, North Carolina on January 14th of 2026 at 2:00 PM
