Apr 16, 1927 - Jan 31, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Clara Ruth HaymanKnoxville, TNClara Ruth Hayman - age 90, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother departed this life peacefully at home on Monday, July 31, 2017. Ruth was born on April 16, 1927, in Sweetwater, Texas and spent her early years in Arkansas and New Mexico. In 1949, she flew to Hawaii to marry her sweetheart, William Hayman, who was stationed on Ford Island. They purchased their marriage license at Waipahu Sugar Mill in the Territory of Hawaii. For 28 years she was a military wife, moving countless times, but always making a home with each move. Ruth was a talented painter and creative quilter. She had a steadfast faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and loved Him with her whole heart. Her faithfulness in prayer and devotion to the Lord inspired her children and grandchildren, and the seeds of faith she planted continue to grow. She truly had "no greater joy than this: to hear that [her] children are walking in the truth" (I John 3:4). The family wishes to thank her caregivers, Rachael Williams, Kathy Marlow, and Angie Foster for their loving and steadfast attention, and also the staff of Amedisys Hospice, and in particular the nurses, for their long and devoted care. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Roy F. and Letha V. Boling; and brother, E. Harkey Boling. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, William P. Hayman; three daughters, Kathy Elaine Lilinoe Walker of Buffalo, KY, Marsha Ann Kearsarge Hayman of Grants Pass, OR, and Anita Frances Boling (Mark) of Knoxville, TN; three grandchildren, Justine V.C. Thompson (Randy) of Bend, OR, Jessica L. Brown (Paul) of Clinton, TN, and Michael E. Boling (Regan) of Hobbs, NM; and three great grandsons, Cameron R. Thompson, Nathan R. Thompson and Benjamin E. Brown. In celebration of Ruth's life, the family will receive friends on 3:00-4:30 PM Saturday, August 5, 2017, at the home of Mark and Anita Boling, 4915 Westover Terrace, Knoxville. "We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, concerning those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope. Since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, in the same way God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus." (I Thessalonians 4:13-14). Arrangements by Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, 865-523-4999. www.bridgesfuneralhome.com
