Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 10, from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pmCharles Short went home to be with the Lord on April 2, 2014. Charles was born on October 9, 1957 in Redding, Ca. He worked at Short's Scrap Iron and Metal in Redding until September 2000. He then went to work at NorthState Recycling until July 2009.As his claim to fame, Charles could run any kind of equipment, anytime and anywhere. And in a few minutes he was better than anyone else. We have never heard the end of his ability to operate a crane. He was the Best of the Best as far as an equipment operator. Customers would always ask for him to unload them no matter what shape he was in. He will always be missed for his caring and love of people and animals, always putting others above himself.Until the very end, Charles was always singing and smiling.He leaves behind a wife, Elizabeth Short, two sons: Ed King, Timothy Hopkins, three daughters: Ericka King, Emily King and Tiffany Harris and 5 grandchildren. Charles also leaves behind his father and mother, Russell R Short and Dortha M Short, 3 brothers: Russell L Short and wife Jowonda, Ray Short and wife Lena, Robin Short and wife Teresa.
