Charles Presnell Sr.Charles Edward Presnell Sr., 76, of Litchfield, Ill., passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at 6:27 p.m. in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Ill. He was born on Sept. 29, 1940 in Granite City, IL, the son of Charles R. and Margaret M., nee Kelley, Presnell. Charles graduated from Belleville West High School with the Class of 1958 and was a member of the Black Knights Marching Band. Charles worked as an Overhead Crane Operator for Granite City Steel Company for 35 years and retired in 1996. He had also owned and operated "The Brass Rack," a family clothing store in Litchfield. He was a licensed ham operator "AC9P," an R.V. and Jeep fanatic and enjoyed traveling. He was known for keeping a beautiful yard and enjoyed his dog, "Cujo."Surviving are his wife, Karen Kay, nee Eickmeyer, Presnell, whom he married June 15, 1986, at Zion Lutheran Church, Litchfield; two sons, Charles E. (Kimberly) Presnell Jr. of Carrollton, Ga., and James R. (Dana L.) Presnell of Murray, Ky.; two stepsons, Bradley D. Morris of Kansas City, Mo., and Rick L. (Kayla) Morris of Litchfield; two stepdaughters, Denise R. (Madison) Howard of Divernon and Vickie L. Markulakis of Litchfield; two sisters, Margaret Grams of Prairietown and Pat (David) Simpson of Keystone Heights, Fla.; four grandchildren, Nicole Servello, Sarah Shouse, Charles Presnell III, and Kalynn Kee; and three great-grandchildren, Savannah, Tre, and Grayson.He was preceded in death by his parents; a toddler son, Scott Presnell; two sisters, Charlotte Davis and Norma Dollins.The family suggests memorials to Zion Lutheran Church or PAWS Care of Montgomery County.
