Charles E. Donaghey1930-2016Charles E. Donaghey, 86, passed away on October 23, 2016, in the loving company of his family and care givers. He is survived by his children, Betsy, Mark and Patsy, his grandchildren Daniel, Stephen, Shelly and Michael, his sons in law, Tony, Ken, and Dan, his companion, Gloria, and his caregivers, Hilia, Jessika and the Montano family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann, his sons, Denny and Regis, and his sister, Patricia.Chuck was born on September 6, 1930 in Bellevue, PA. He served in the Air Force, including a posting to Shemya Island. He obtained bachelor, master and PhD degrees in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and Penn State. In July, 1954, he married Ann Joachim of Ocean Springs, MS. He taught for 30 years at the University of Houston, inspiring thousands of students. His simulation program, CELLSIM, was used by researchers at MD Anderson. As well as a loving father and doting grandfather, Chuck was an avid sports fan, especially of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. He loved the family vacations at Surfside he made possible each year.A rosary and visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday at Earthman's, Bellaire. A funeral mass will be held at noon on Saturday at St Thomas More, followed by a reception at the parish hall.
