Chance Homes, commonly known as Evan, also known as the undefeated champion of dad jokes and lover of baseball, passed away on February 6, 2025, in Sarasota, Florida. He was born on May 25, 2007, to his loving parents Adam Homes and Veroníca Gonzalez Homes.
Evan had a passion for baseball that began at a young age and carried him through his time at IMG Academy high school. He continued his plans to study at TCU for a full ride scholarship and graduate in the class of 2030, planning to go into Psychology and eventually become a psychiatrist.
Aside from his dedication to the game, Evan also devoted his time to helping others, volunteering with the Saint Jude Childhood Cancer organization. He had a heart of gold and a spirit that could light up a room.
Unfortunately, Evan’s life was cut short when he was tragically hit by a drunk driver on his way to support a dear friend, Amelia Barcenas Hodlick at her soccer game. Even in his final moments, he was showing up for those he cared about. Always putting others before himself.
Evan leaves behind his parents, friends, and a community that will never forget his infectious laughter and love for a good game of baseball. Although he had no children of his own, he had a way of making everyone around him feel like family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Saint Jude Childhood Cancer organization in Chance's memory. And remember, life is short, so make sure to cherish every moment and never pass up the opportunity to tell a dad joke.
You can to the family or in memory of Chance Homes.
