YORK Catherine E. Smith, 81, passed peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2015, at her home. She was the wife of Jeffry L. Smith for 31 years. She was born on September 18, 1934, in Chambersburg, the daughter of the late William and Mary McKelvey. She graduated from Gettysburg High School and after 27 years, retired from the York County Judicial System as a Court Stenographer for Judge James Buckingham. She was a past member of the Conewago Trail Riders and York White Rose Square Dancers. The funeral service in celebration of her life will be at noon Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at the John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 902 Mt. Rose Ave., York. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Smith is survived by six children, Gary Krout, David Bailey and wife, Brenda, Cindy Frost and husband, James, Bruce Bailey and wife, Polly, Debbie Krout-Althoff and husband, Joe, and Amy Gombeda and husband, Tim; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
