Cathy lost her courageous battle with breast cancer on Friday, February 2, 2024. She was an amazing wife, Mother, Sister, Daughter, and friend. Cathy’s last wish was to see her first granddaughter be born. Reagan Catherine Marie Powell was born at 5:50 am on February 2, 2024. Her last wish was granted by the Grace of God.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Eddie Bourne, who doted over his “Queen”; her amazing son and his wife, Ryan and Sarah Powell, who were so proud of, and her granddaughter, Reagan Catherine Marie; her brother and his wife, JD and Trish Leary; and two nephews, Justin and Shane; and a niece, Rachel; her sister and her husband, Leigh Ann and Warren Hawkins; her Mom and Dad, John and Betty Leary; and her friend, Mischelle Adams.
Cathy was an adventurous woman. Her career as a Fairfax County firefighter and willingness to help others was just another example of who she was. She loved to work out and go kayaking and the beach. Cathy mostly loved being around “her people” Life will be forever changed by her and her absence. But her memory will forever be. Cathy, you will be missed always.
Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to cancer research in her name.
