BATH - Carroll Eugene Edwards, 85, of Bath, N.Y. died on Oct. 18, 2016 at the Arnot Ogden Hospital.He was born on Oct. 18, 1931 in Whitesville, N.Y. to Herbert and Rose Edwards. He graduated form Greenwood Central School in 1949, and Cortland State University with B.S. and M.S. degrees. In 1957 he married Margery Long and they have four children who survive, Patricia (Rodney) Gifford, Rebecca Shamy, Marc (Jui-Ling) Edwards, and Benjamin Edwards. He also is survived by eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his parents and 10 siblings, Louella (LaVerne) Van Skiver, Evelyn (Lawrence) Hann, Velma (Ray) Rhude, Nathan (Ila) Edwards, Ronald Edwards, Wilma (Ralph) Skinner, Herbert (Joyce) Edwards, Charles Edwards, Iva Lou (Gene) Trant, and Joyce Ann Edwards.He served in the U.S. Army, taught at Troupsburg Central School and then became Supervising Principal there. He also was Assistant Superintendent at Pioneer Central School, Superintendent of Ripley Central School and finished his career at Goshen Central School as Assistant Superintendent for Business.In his younger years he loved flying and was a licensed pilot. Other interests included playing all kinds of games (especially duplicate bridge), gardening, reading, studying history and family activities.At his request, there will be no calling hours or visitation at this time. A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2017 with burial at the Whitesville Cemetery.
