Final Coronation For Carolyn Lynette Searcy

Carolyn Searcy, born January 1, 1950 in Dallas, Texas to the parents of Cornelius Searcy and Francis Viola Searcy. She attended school in Dallas County, Texas and graduated from Dallas Carter High School in 1968. Later that same year, she met and married Jerry Mitchell. To this union were born (4) children: Ingrid Deanean, Shawn Antonio, Kimberly Yvette, and Anthony Mitchell. Additionally, she raised her (2) grandchildren: Camerom Mitchell and De'Vonte Lang.

In 1976, she began her career with the Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES). Additionally, Carolyn acquired various part-time employment positions with the United States Postal Services at Presbyterian Village in order to provide for her family. In April of 2021, she retired from the Army Air Force Exchange Service.

Carolyn became a member of the General Assembly Church of the Living God PGT in 1989, serving the Senior Usher Board and sharing the duties as a youth director for over 20-years. She enjoyed preparing the youth for their many church performances and for the many victories received from the Annual Youth Conventions. She also served as the Tiny Tots Sunday School teacher for many years. Teaching those little ones gave her such great joy.

In May of 2019, Carolyn was awarded her Certificate in Ministry from East Texas Baptist University located in Marshall, Texas. She enjoyed her Saturday trips to the General Assembly Institute in Tyler, Texas with classmates and friends known as "The Van Ministry."

Carolyn was a true believer in God and did not make any moves until consulted with Him. She taught all of her children to always put God first, to include Him in every decision, and to "Make sure you take the Lord with you." Her favorite scripture is found in Philippians 4:6-7, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

She was preceded in death by her parents: Cornelius and Viola Searcy, brothers: Obbie Searcy, Chester (Sonny) M. Searcy, and Salyett L. Searcy; sisters Jetti Jones and Georgia Mae Jenkins; and her son, Shawn Antonio. She leaves to cherish her memories Cameron Mitchell and Devonte Lang and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends and her COTLG family.
