Gunderson, CarolineCarolyn M. Gunderson, 79, Aniwa, died on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Columbus Community Hospital, Columbus, WI.She was born on January 25, 1937 in Marathon County, the daughter of the late Clarence and Marta (Ellefsen) Mortenson.On August 2, 1958, Carolyn was united in marriage to Larry A. Gunderson. He preceded her in death on February 10, 2008.Carolyn worked as a Registered Nurse for over 50 years. Most of her years were spent caring for patients in nursing homes and under hospice care. Carolyn had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing for many functions, including weddings and funerals. She also made beautiful stained glass and sent many shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Carolyn loved the time she spent with her family and will be missed.Survivors include seven children, Gregg (Lori) Gunderson, Antigo, Eric (Molly) Gunderson, Hogarty, Carri (Richard) Kartes, Wausau, John (Tracey) Gunderson, Atlanta, GA, Chris Gunderson, Hogarty, Joe (Melissa) Gunderson, Hudson, WI and Amy (Dennis) Roche, Columbus, WI; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and her brothers, Lloyd Mortenson, Birnamwood and Rodney (Karen) Mortenson, Sahuarita, AZ. She is also survived by other relatives and many friends.In addition to her parents and husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan in infancy; grandson, Daniel Roche and her brothers, Clifford Mortenson, Gerald Mortenson and Dennis Mortenson.A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood.
