Carol Washington, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on March 6, 2025, at the age of 79.

Born on March 11, 1945, to Mitchell and Glenda Harris, Carol lived a fulfilling life surrounded by love and laughter. She married the love of her life, Grant Washington, and together they raised three children – Jamie, Joy (and spouse Robert), and James.

Carol was known for her green thumb and spent countless hours tending to her beautiful gardens. She found joy in watching her flowers bloom and sharing gardening tips with anyone who would listen.

Carol had a deep love for the simple joys in life. She found peace in her garden, tending to her flowers in the warm summer months. She was also a talented and creative artist, expressing her love through handmade cards and scrapbooks. Her beautifully crafted flower box cards were a true labor of love, bringing joy to many. She and her daughters, Jamie and Joy, lovingly donated their handmade creations to Providence Hospital in Southfield, ensuring that even strangers felt special and cared for.

Despite her battle with cancer, Carol always had a smile on her face and a kind word to offer. Her positive outlook on life inspired all who knew her.

Carol is now reunited with her beloved husband, Grant, and her late brother, James Harris. She leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by her devoted children: Jamie Pearson, her son Grant Washington Jr, and his wife Virginia, and Joy Merriweather and her husband Robert; cherished grandchildren: Nicholas Merriweather, Stephen Pearson, Samantha and Denzel Washington; and many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her niece, Paula Phillis, who was very dear to her heart.

Her legacy of love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 2PM until the time of funeral at 5PM at Faulmann and Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home.
