Carol jean Payne, of San Bernardino, California, passed on May 23, 2023. Carol jean was born on October 18, 1939 in Wichita, Kansas to David Payne and Edith Harell, Carol Jean was later adopted by Augustus Wells.

Carol Jean is preceeded in death by her mother, Edith Wells, father David Payne and adopted father Augustus Wells. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, a brother Leon Wells of Wichita Ks ; a sister Marguerite Carter of Wichita Ks. Her sons Virgil Marshall, Lionel Marshall, Christopher Marshall and daughter Alina Howard. Along with 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, nieces nephews and a host of friends in California.
