Carmita Poe, 93, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed on March 05, 2023. Carmita was born on November 04, 1929.

Carmita C Poe was born in Philadelphia, Pa on November 04, 1929. She was the oldest of two children of Benjamin Poe and Gertrude (Green) Poe. She attened the Philadelphia Public Schools including Vaux Junior high school and Kesington Highschool

Carmita learned to play the piano at a young age and shared her talents performing concerts.

Carmita was a hard worker begining employment as a teen at a local market. In her early twenties, she began working at Sears Roebuck CO. It was there that she met and married her husband Teddy Johnson. From this union one daughter was - Lisa Poe.

Her home was often the family gathering place for holidays and celebrations. Being around family and friends brought her great joy

Carmita possessed a very strong work ethic, often holding two jobs or working double shifts. She was committed to providing a quality education for her child. She worked as a teacher at Prince Hall Junior Highschool for 30 years. After a fulfilling career as a teacher, she decided to retire at the age of 55. In her spare time, Carmita enjoyed traveling to different restaurants to hear jazz music

Carmita endured several serious illnesses throughout her life including a brain aneurysm and other conditions which required major surgeries. God blessed her to withstand these difficulties and grow faith in His goodness

In 2021, Carmita consented to move in with her daughter, Lisa. The two had been travel partners and prayer partners.

Carmita bravely fought the medical challenges she faced and never lost faith in God's ability to heal. She slipped away into her Master's arms on March 5th, 2023 at home

She leaves to mourn her daughter, Lisa Poe (Phila) Grandchildren Keith Todd-Dickens (Phila,Pa) T'Ara Dickens (Phila,Pa) Tori Dickens (Phila,Pa)

She also leaves many cherished family and friends
