Bruno N. IsoliniMadridBruno Nate Isolini, 84, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017, surrounded by his family. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 8, 2017 at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Madrid. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, south of Madrid.Bruno was born on May 28, 1932 in Des Moines to Natale and Elsa (Pagliai) Isolini. Following the death of his father in a coal mining accident, his mother married Jim Stefani, who was a great father figure to Bruno. He graduated from Madrid High School in 1951. He faithfully served in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. On July 16, 1955, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann "Pat" Sturdivant and they made their home in Madrid. Throughout their marriage, they enjoyed spending summers at their cabin in Clear Lake with family and the Clear Lake gang and in the fall, attending Notre Dame football games. He also enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren and playing cards every Thursday at the Vittoria Lodge.Bruno worked at Firestone Tire for 43 ½ years, where he served as Vice President of Local 310, United Steelworkers Union. He retired in 1995. In his earlier years, he was co-owner of the Sportsman's West End Bar in Madrid. He was a member of St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Madrid V.F.W., Vittoria Lodge, Society of Italian Americas and Notre Dame Subway Alumni Club. Bruno is survived by his children, Rick J. Isolini of Madrid, Rod B. (Jodi) Isolini of Windsor Heights, and Lori A. (Mark) Reddish of Madrid; Five grandchildren, Lindsey, Garret (Emily), Kelsey, Jessica and Jamie; four great grandchildren and a nephew Nate Isolini. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat; his parents and a brother, Norman "Babe" Isolini.Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 7 at St. Malachy's Catholic Church, with a vigil service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Vittoria Lodge or St. Malachy's Catholic Church.
