Brett J. Malmquist, 21, of Yuma, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 1:41 p.m at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, Ill. Brett James Malmquist was born on February 16, 1990, in Worcester, Mass., the son of Carl and Katherine Rodriguez Malmquist. Brett graduated from Yuma High School in Yuma, AZ. He pursued collegiate studies and athletics at The Kiski School in Pennsylvania and Darton College in Georgia. He was currently attending Lincoln College where he was a member of the swim team. Brett was loved and respected by all that knew him. Brett is survived by his parents; older brother, Cy Malmquist; step-brother, Sahu Rodriguez, and younger sister, Karina Joy Malmquist. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 11545 E. 40th St., Yuma, in the foothills. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
