Bob L. Marshall, 74, passed away after a long battle with cancer at his home on Friday, December 11, 2009. He was born on May 28, 1935 in Shady Point, Oklahoma.Bob moved with his family from Oklahoma to Artesia, New Mexico in 1953, where he completed high school on May 28, 1953. He served in the U.S. Army from June of 1957 until May of 1963. He worked for Continental Oil until moving to California in the early 60's. He was self employed and then worked as a manager of PHD Corp and then went to work for Kennedy's Tires, and Empire Machinery. He retired in 2005 after 35 great years at Empire Machinery.Bob was a member of NHRA Drag Racing for 50 years. He belonged to Elks Lodge #2086 in Ruidoso, New Mexico. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge #1627 of Yuma. He was also a member of the NRA for many years.Bob is survived by his wife, Carol of Yuma; daughters, Jana (Alain) Rivard of Las Vegas, NV, and Jillian (Glenn) Phillips of San Diego, CA; son, Jim (Claudia) Marshall of Escondido, CA; step-son, Alan Williams of Brawley, CA; step-daughter, Terri (Ray) Ramirez of Westmorland, CA; sisters, Reba Savoie of Roswell, NM, Elsa Hayes of Carlsbad, NM, Pat (Jon) Barnes of Carlsbad, and Kathy (Eric) Shelton of Albuquerque, NM; brothers-in-law, Bill (Glenda) Burns, and Dennis Burns both of Westmorland, CA; sister-in-law, Vern Mae (Marcus) Neuhaus of Caney, KS; grandchildren, Tara (Jose), Todd, Josh (Megan), Ryan, Lidsay, Kasey, Sydney, Cyonie, Alain Jr. (Debra), Eric (Tammy), Clint (Cory), Jacob (Emalisa) and 13 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.Being an avid hot rod enthusiast he will be traveling to his resting place in his 1937 Ford Pickup. The family would be honored if anyone attending who has a special vehicle would follow him.A service will be held at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley, California on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
