Billy Joe McMichael, 81, of Bardstown, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born on Dec. 1, 1933, in Spencer County to the late Ollie and Ola Gritton McMichael. He was a retired engineer for the State Highway Department for State of Kentucky. He was also a member of Nelson County Baptist Church, coached at Nelson County Baptist School for 14 years and a was a former youth football coach for 17 years in Bloomfield.Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie McMichael.Survivors include two daughters, Vicki (Bro. Darrell) Goodlett, of Bardstown, Kelsey McMichael, of Bardstown; a son, Terry (Angie) McMichael, of Cynthiana; a brother, Ollie (Anna Ruth) McMichael Jr., of Louisville; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery. Brother Darrell Goodlett will officiate the service.Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, and after 8:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, at the funeral home. Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
