BETTY VOCEABILENE, TXBetty Arleen Perry Voce, 71, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and proud Army Veteran, passed away peacefully, Saturday, January 28, 2017. She was dearly loved and will be missed by many. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Brook Hollow Christian Church, South 23rd and Willis, officiated by Patrick Voce, Chesna Riley, and Penny Biddy, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. A burial, with military honors, will be held after the service at 2:00PM in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Abilene. A visitation for Betty will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 4:30PM to 7:00PM at the funeral home in Tuscola.Betty, the second of eight children, and oldest daughter, was born on July 25, 1945, in Mena, Arkansas, to Leo and Arleen (Peek) Perry. Betty grew up first in Texas and then in Oregon and California, where as the oldest girl, and with her nurturing character, became a second mom to her siblings, whom she treasured.In 1965, Betty graduated from Del Norte High School and thereafter joined the United States Army where she served her nation in the Women's Army Corp as a vocational nurse. Betty, was an American Soldier.While serving her country she met and married Patrick F. Voce in 1967. After marrying, Betty dedicated her life to being a military spouse and to raising the couple's two sons, Patrick and Casey. As a military family they lived in many states and numerous places before finally settling down in Abilene, TX in 1982. In 1996, the first of her three grandchildren were born, and Betty took on a new role as grandmother. She loved her grandchildren with a lavish love and they in return, loved her completely, as their Grandmom Betty.Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Arleen Perry, and two brothers, Bobby and Billy Perry.She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Patrick and Laurie Voce of Lawn and Casey and Amy Voce of Abilene; brother, James Perry; sisters, Linda Wolford, Sharon Perry, Denise Schanbeck, and Kathy Knight; three grandchildren Airman First Class Ian Voce, USAF, Carlie Voce, and Aiden Voce; and many extended family members, loved ones, and those who were blessed to have called her friend.The family would like to extend a special thanks to the care team at Winter's Assisted Living and the outstanding professionals at Hendrick's Hospice, who treated Betty with compassion and dignity.Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:AMERICAN WOMEN VETERANS FOUNDATIONPO BOX 1776 Sun Valley, ID 83353 www.fry-smith.com
