We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Betty Shumpert, who was born on March 27, 1926, in Tupelo, Mississippi, United States. She passed away on August 5, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.

Betty was the daughter of LB (Byron) and Lorraine Payne, both of whom have preceded her in death. She was also the beloved partner of CL Shumpert, who has also passed away. Betty is survived by her three children: Gloria Smith (spouse Glenn), Barry Shumpert (spouse Pete), and Steve Shumpert (spouse Susan). She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in her six grandchildren.

Betty attended Mooreville High School and graduated in 1943. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in West Point, MS, where she dedicated her time and efforts to serving others. Betty will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
