Betty Jean BurkeDec. 24, 1924Aug. 9, 2017Betty Jean Burke, 92, of Reno, NV passed away on August 9, 2017. Daughter of Marie and Ernie York, Betty was born on December 24, 1924 in Susanville, CA. The family moved to Reno, NV when she was 3 years of age. She attended Mt. Rose Elementary School and Reno High School. Betty married E.A. Sonny Burke (deceased) in San Francisco, CA. The couple lived in San Diego, CA during Sonny's tour in the US Navy. They moved back to Reno, where Betty spent 44 years with First National Bank, which has become Wells Fargo, retiring in 1987. She was a docent at the University of Nevada, Reno Historical Society. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Doyle Burke and is survived by her brother, Kenneth Stewart York, son, Kenneth Randal Burke (Joanne) and her cherished grandchildren, Patrick James Burke (Anna), Jeremy Doyle Burke, Erik Thomas Burke (Meryl) and Mikey Clement Burke (Edin) and great granddaughter, Macamman (Erik and Meryl). She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Thanks to Silver Linings Managed Care and St. Mary's Hospice. Funeral arrangements will be handled by Walton's Funeral Home. Betty will be laid to rest at Mountain View cemetery next to her mother and father.
