Betty (Wright) HejdaUrbandaleBetty Arlene (Wright) Hejda passed away on October 3, 2017. She was born on August 19th, 1938 to Alvin and Grace Wright of rural Delta, Iowa. Betty was the youngest of five children. She graduated from Delta High School in 1955 at the age of 16, graduating with top honors. She was a high point scorer on the Delta girls six-on-six basketball team. Betty was a successful secretary for Bernard M. Kirk Insurance Company and Dr. Koppelman, the Provost at the Osteopathic College. Later on, she found success as owner of Reed's Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop in Beaverdale, Iowa. Betty is survived by husband, Leo; sister, Phyllis De Young; stepsons and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dale; and sisters, Dora and Laura Mae.A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the funeral home.
