Myers, Beth Ann Jury,Beth Ann Jury Myers passed away early Wednesday, June 21, 2017.Beth was the daughter of Harold B. Jury and Lyla Burnham Jury of Washburn, Illinois. She was born on the Jury family houstead in Woodford County, Illinois on May 9, 1929. Beth attended a one-room school, Greely School, about a mile from her home, and often rode her bicycle or pony, "Chum" to school.Her high school days were spent at Washburn Township High School, and she graduated with a BA, in 1950, from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. One week after graduation she married Charles L. Myers, also of Washburn, on June 17, 1950, and they moved to Indianapolis, where Charles (Chuck) was employed as a mechanical engineer, with RCA Victor. Charles preceded Beth in death, on May 17, 2004. During their time in Indianapolis, two daughters were born. In 1955, the family moved to Boston, and then to Farmington, Maine, from which Charles commuted to Boston for 3 ½ years, to become trained as a Methodist minister. In 1957, while still in Main, a son was born.The family returned to Indiana in 1958, and subsequently lived in Carlisle, Batesville, Bloomington, Greenwood, Lebanon, New Albany, and Indianapolis, where Charles served churches.Beth completed a Master's Degree in Education from Indiana Central College (now the University of Indianapolis), in 1971. She taught elementary school in Bloomington and Greenwood. She worked as a social worker in Lebanon. And for a brief time, she was a realtor for Century 21, in Indianapolis. She, alone or with her husband, often led religious retreats for men and women among United Methodist congregations within the state. Beth loved her God, her family, and her friends. She was especially devoted to her four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother (Richard D. Jury). Surviving her are her children, Susan Myers Celestian (Stan), Margaret Myers Barr, Paul Myers (Deborah Oliver Myers); grandchildren, Aaron Celestian (Jennifer Cole), Sarah Celestian Markert (Bryan), Kelly Myers, Jacob Myers (Shelby Greeley Myers); great-grandchildren, Alexander Celestian, Oliver Celestian, Rachael Markert, Grayson Markert, and Matthew Markert.Her wish would be that there would be peace in the world, and all peoples would learn to respect the differences in one another, and give thanks for the many gifts we each bring to life.Visitation will be at St. Mark's United Methodist Church on Monday June 26, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 5:00 p.m. at the church with Mary Beth Morgan officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Middle Way House or The Charles L. Myers Scholarship Fund at St. Mark's UMC. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 S.
