We are saddened to announce the passing of Bertta Green Washington, who left this world on September 1, 2025, at the age of 68. She was born on September 23, 1956, in Newport News, Virginia, to her loving parents Benjamin and Henrietta Green.

Bertta was married to her devoted husband, Donald Washington, for 45 years and together they raised four wonderful children. Donald Washington Jr, Nathaniel Washington, John Washington, and Betty Washington. She was also blessed with 10 grandchildren.

Bertta was a graduate of Burk High School in 1973 and went on to complete her studies at Rice College in 1978. She dedicated her career to teaching and touched the lives of many students before retiring in 2020.

Outside of her professional life, Bertta enjoyed sewing and attending family functions. Her warmth, generosity, and sense of humor will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Although she is no longer with us, Bertta's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Rest in peace, dear Bertta.
