We are saddened to announce the passing of Bertha Mercer on May 19, 2024, in Norfolk City, Virginia. She was born on February 10, 1924, to proud parents Anders and Vandella Mercer.

Bertha was a loving mother to her eight children: Curtis with spouse Anna, Bernease, Bettye, Eddie Mae with spouse Calvin, Barbara, Frances with spouse Olan, Darien, and Mazie Lee with spouse Bud. She was also a cherished grandmother to ten grandchildren.

Bertha attended Maury High School and graduated in 1942. She worked as a School Bus Driver and retired in 1989. Bertha was also an active member of the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she dedicated her time and efforts to helping others.

In her free time, Bertha enjoyed spending time with her family, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever.

Bertha will be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile, and unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
