1928 - 2017 Benny Mendoza, 88, of Beaumont, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in Beaumont. Benny was born on June 13, 1928 in Rockland, Texas to Isidro and Manuela Mendoza. Benny enlisted in the Marine Corps after high school. Once his military service ended he married Virginia Galaviz. These two enjoyed 67 years of life together. During this time Benny worked for the Gulf Oil Refinery in Port Arthur Texas until his retirement. Benny and Virginia helped to establish and were long-time members of Cristo Rey Catholic Church, and were active members in the community. Survivors include his loving wife, Virginia Mendoza of Beaumont; son, Brad Paul Mendoza of Beaumont; daughters, Sandra Segura and her husband Allen of Wylie, Texas, Lisa Wesner and her husband Johnny of Garland, Texas; grandchildren, Michael Segura, Candace Segura, Brandy Segura M.D., Christopher Wesner, Brittney Wesner, Ashley Mendoza; great grandchildren, Joshua Segura, Jacob Kenehan, Jayden Kenehan, Tyler Itri, Ava Itri, Eliana Mendoza, and Julius Mendoza. He is preceded in death by their son Benny Mendoza Jr. The family will receive friends at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 p.m. on Friday with the Rosary to be said at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Beaumont. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
