Bennie Ray Silva age 61 a lifelong resident of Porterville died on Monday, October 31, 2016 surrounded by his loving brothers and sisters. Ben was born on March 31, 1955 in Porterville to Rome and Vera Silva. Ben served proudly in the US Army before being employed for Holbrook Auctions and then the Porterville Cemetery District as a groundsman for 19 years. He later moved on to become employed as a Custodial Engineer for Bartlett Middle School. Ben had many interest, among them were welding, woodwork and especially gardening. He also enjoyed spending time with his family eating and on occasion drinking his favorite Long Neck Budweiser. Ben is survived by his 6 Brothers: Gilbert Silva and wife Sue, George Silva and wife Terri, Daniel Silva and wife Suzie, Joseph Silva, Robert Silva and Timothy Silva. 6 Sisters: Hortencia Camarena, Teresa Pence, Margaret Serna and husband Lawrence, Patricia Castillo and husband John, Mary Lou Waldrun and husband Ralph and Stella Silva along with numerous nieces and nephews. Ben was loved by all who knew him and will be missed greatly. A Graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Bakersfield National Cemetery 30338 East Bear Mountain Blvd., Arvin, CA 93203. A Celebration of Life will be held March 31, 2017.
