January 8, 1966 - November 20, 2016On Sunday November 20, 2016 San Antonio Police Department Detective Benjamin Marconi was shot and killed in the line of duty.He was born on January 8, 1966 to James "Jim" and Minerva "Minnie" Marconi of San Antonio until moving to Floresville, Texas in the mid 1970's. After graduating Floresville High School he earned a Business degree from Texas A&I Kingsville. While in college he was an active member and officer of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and Army ROTC program. Ben selflessly gave 20 years of service to the San Antonio community, his most recent accomplishment being that he obtained the rank of Detective in Major Crimes.Ben is proceeded in death by his parents, nephew Gary Marconi and brother-in-law Tanton McKnight. He is survived by his son Dane Marconi, grandson Mason Marconi, stepdaughter Jacy Lewis, brother Tom and wife Diana Marconi, their sons Adam and Andrew Marconi, their granddaughter Anastazia Zamora Marconi, sister Debbie and husband Danny Saldaña, their sons Ross Gonzales Jr. and Nick Saldaña, daughter Danielle Saldaña and their granddaughter Hailey Gonzales, sister Terri Marconi McKnight and her son Blake Kirkland along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.Ben advocated for equal rights, lived to be a peace officer, laughed with many friends, and loved his family.Visitation will be held at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Avenue, Sunday, November 27, 2016, beginning at 3:00p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m.Funeral Service will be held at Community Bible Church, 2477 N.
