Ben Irby Waters, Jr. passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016, in Conroe. He was born on April 30, 1935, in Weatherford, Texas, and is preceded in death by his parents Ben Irby Waters, Sr. and Lois Waters; sisters, Maxine Ford and Bernice Glenn.

Ben is survived by his wife of 58 years, Charlotte Cranford Waters, his son, John and wife Laurie, and grandchildren Drew and Lauren Waters, all of Conroe.

Ben served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and then began a career in the insurance business. He established his successful insurance brokerage in Houston which he ran for many years. He was a lifetime director of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo where he spent much time serving as chairman of the Lamb Committee. Ben was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time on the golf course and at his country club. Upon retirement, he spent happy years planting and sowing his garden at the Montgomery County Friendship Garden where he made early-morning coffee and played poker with his garden buddies. Ben, who never met a stranger, loved his family and he loved to visit with his many friends. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial service celebrating Ben's life will be held in Robb Chapel, Tuesday, October 25, 2:00 pm at The Woodlands United Methodist Church, 2200 Lake Woodlands Drive, with a reception immediately following.
